Paul W. Schilling, age 85 of Watertown, passed away on Sunday morning October 23, 2016 at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 27, 2016 at 11am at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Todd Iverson officiating. Burial with military graveside rites provided by the Watertown American Legion Post will be at St. Henry Catholic Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated. The Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family.
Paul Walter Schilling was born on January 12, 1931 in Reedsburg the son of Oscar and Alma (Backman) Schilling. He was a 1949 graduate of the Reedsburg High School. Paul was a member of the US Army. On May 13, 1958 he was married to Ruth “Jo” Faber. Paul had been employed as a custodian for the Watertown Public School System and St. Henry Catholic Church for many years. Paul was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was also a member of A.A. celebrating thirty-six years of sobriety. Paul enjoyed fishing and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan.
Paul is survived by his wife Jo of Watertown, six children; Doug (Patti) Schilling and Dan (Laurie) Schilling all of Watertown, Kathy (Mike) Schilling-Kressin of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeff (Amy) Schilling of Mayville, Marc (Chris) Schilling of Watertown and Ellen (Dana) Balicki of Geneva, IL, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Eunice Wheeler and Helen Meyer.
