Maxine Cole, 90, of Oglesby, died on Saturday, morning, January 20 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, in the Waltham Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joel Stevenor, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Waltham Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Prey-Mueller Funeral Home in Oglesby, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

Maxine was born on February 10, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, to Ralph and Lucile (Johnston) Clow. She was a graduate of Michigan State University, and taught at Lincoln School in Oglesby for 28 years until her retirement. She married Lyndon V. Cole on July 9, 1949 in Gross Pointe, Michigan.

She was a member of the Waltham Presbyterian Church, various card clubs, and the LaSalle County and Illinois Retired Teachers Associations.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy (Catherine Brady) Cole, of Cambridge, Mass., and Debra Swenson of Oglesby, two sons, Jeffrey (Sherry) Cole of Cape Coral, Fla., and Kevin (Rebeccca Hausten) Cole of Wheaton, 6 grandchildren: Matthew Cole, Jason Cole, Eric Swenson, Katherine Nelson, Rachael Cole, and Amelia Brady-Cole, and 6 great-grandchildren: Bill, Oliver, Charlotte, Rosalie, Nova, and Hudson.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 24, 1983, two brothers, Donald and Curtis Clow, and one sister Nancy Farrell. Memorials may be directed to Waltham Presbyterian Church or St. Coletta’s in Jefferson, Wisconsin.
