She was raised by Erby and Ila Glenn and she married Gene Holmes on February 25, 1944 in Sapulpa. They were married 63 years when he preceded her in death March 19, 2007. She lived her entire life near Sapulpa and loved to garden and care for her animals. At one time she raised peacocks, chickens, ducks and pigeons. Folks would come from far to buy her peacocks. She loved to grow hot peppers even though she never ate them. She always said she thought they were pretty and she usually gave them away to friends who liked them.
She was preceded in death by Gene, her parents Erby and Ila Glenn, sisters June Broyles, and Wanda Glenn. She is survived by children; Earl Holmes of Skiatook, Kay Pope of Natchitoches, La. , and Dusty and Vicky Holmes of Sapulpa. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren and various nieces and nephews. She is survived by sister-in law, Imogene Edmondson of Twin Oaks, Ok. and brother-in-law Tom Holmes of Sapulpa
She was cared for by her loving granddaughter Ashley Holmes for several years.
Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Saturday December 30, 2017 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel 1208 South Main In Sapulpa.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
