Barbara Jean Kissner Blackburn
On January 21, 2018 our sweet, strong beautiful mother…Barbara Blackburn peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She faced every earthly battle with grace and determination..but now her battles are over and she leaves this world victorious.
Cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, strokes and numerous other isssues could not defeat Momma…and Lord knows they tried but they failed to beat her will to live and her strength to survive.
Her family would like to give a special thank you to all of the doctors and medical staff at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville for their love, support and care for Momma during her illness. Their kindness will never be forgotten and will always be cherished. So many did so much for her…but a special shoutout to Dr. John Kornegay and her “Hospital Boyfriend Ryan”. You truly made Momma’s last days special.
Momma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glen Blackburn, parents William and Eleanor Kissner, brothers, Benny and Billy Kissner, Aunt Annie Mae Jenkins and dear friend Josephine Outlaw.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Jerry Blackburn and wife, Linda, daughter, Sharon Parish and husband, Dan and her favorite child, Danny Blackburn and wife, LeAnn; sister-in-laws, Gail Kissner and Wanda Sharpe and husband, Michael; brother-in-law Charles Blackburn and wife, Kathy.
The apple of Momma’s eyes were her grandchildren; Ashley Blackburn, Adam Parish and wife, Mary, Jessica McLamb and husband, Devin, Colby Gehron and wife, Kayla, Tanner Gehron, Brittney Creech and Bradley Creech. The newest loves of Momma’s life were her two great grandchildren, Brantley Carraway and Joshua Gehron.
To Momma’s hand picked family members; Margaret Quinn, Mary Ann and Chuck Padgett, Terry and Sammie Southerland and Dianne and Buddy Benson thank you so much for your love and support.
Momma had such a passion for her Lord and Savior and loved serving the Lord with her church family at West Duplin FWB Church. Her family would like to send a huge thank you to her Pastors Steve and Kathy Cayton, Jim and Vicky Marcum, John and Ann Reed and Gene and Rose Hales. She loved you all very much.
While we mourn at losing our rock, we rejoice that today Momma is completely healed and is walking the Streets of Gold with Daddy and her Lord Jesus Christ. We ask that each and every family member and friend give thanks for all the years that the Lord allowed us with this wonderful Christian Women.
We truly believe that Momma would want the world to know of her last words…”How Great Thou Art!”
A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at West Duplin FWB Church with visitation following. Burial will be 11:00am Wednesday at Devotional Gardens.
Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be made to West Duplin FWB Church, 987 Hwys 24 and 50, Warsaw, NC 28398
