Donald Eaton, 80, unexpectedly went and met his Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of January 9th, 2018. He leaves behind many loved ones, including his wife of 41 years, Bev; son, Kevin (Letty) Eaton; daughter, Vikki Best; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by his brother, Keith (Judy) Eaton of Utah; mother-in-law, Barbara Rossi; sister-in-laws, Gina Rossi & Paula (Bob) Canchola and brother-in-laws, Mario & Vito Rossi. He was lovingly known as "Uncle Donnie" by numerous nieces and nephews. Don was blessed with many life long friends, including Joe Stackhouse (for 43 years) and Gene Holman of Lodi (for 71 years.)
Don graduated from Merced High School in 1955 and received a Bachelor's Degree from Fresno State in 1959. Immediately following college graduation, Don joined the National Guard and served for six years. Don began his tenure with Gallo Winery upon receiving his degree and remained with the company for 37 years, earning the title, Director of Management Services.
After retirement, Don volunteered at Bret Hart Elementary School, assisting students with reading and math support. He enjoyed monthly luncheons with Gallo retirees and friends still employed. In 2004, Don joined SIRS, Branch 103, holding various positions, eventually serving in the capacity of Big Sir.
Don had several passions, including hosting family gatherings, enjoying daily visits with his neices/nephews, helping them with homework and most adored, traveling. Don and Bev had an opprotunity to experience many traveling adventures; however, cruising was most treasured (41 cruises total.)
