Jackie was a Bristow area resident most all of his life, moving here with his family at the age of 11 from Sapulpa. He attended Bristow schools and served a term with the Army National Guard. Jack King and Thea Runt were married on September 22, 1973 enjoying nearly 45 years together. Jack worked many years as a cementer for Halliburton. As well, he donated time to many organizations such as the Bristow Round up Club, Oklahoma Pet Professionals, Oklahoma Rifle Association and Bristow Cub Scouts. He always found time to do the things he loved. Family was first and foremost in Jack’s life. He showed great care and compassion when working with his dogs and horses, was an outdoorsman when it came to hunting and fishing and enjoyed working on various woodworking projects.
Jack is survived by his wife, Thea of the Bristow home; one daughter, Jenna Johnson and husband Chuck of Bristow; one son, Dirk VanVeen of Tahlequah; one sister, Faye Lister of Sapulpa; three grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Jeremy Miller and Jennifer Johnson; mother in-law, Ethel Runt; brother in-law, Ted Runt; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings and one grandson, Brett Miller. Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Monday, January 22, 2018 at Sunrise Cemetery with John Scroggs officiating.
