Doris passed away at Brookdale Green Mountain Senior Living Center. She was born to Otis Cleveland Lands and Cecil Smothers. She earned a Bachelor degree in business from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. During World War II, she typed specifications for blueprints for McDonnell Aircraft Company in St. Louis, MO, building DC-3 airplane, and for Boeing in Wichita, KS, building B-29 Superfortress bombers. After the war, she moved to Colorado, where she met and married James. Doris was a school teacher with Jefferson County School District for over 30 years at South Lakewood, Glennon Heights, and Patterson Elementary Schools until 1985. She was a longtime resident of Lakewood and member of Green Mountain United Methodist Church in Lakewood. Survivors included: children Stephen of Denver, Bruce (Meredith) of Anchorage, AK, Gary (Tammy) of Lakewood, and Christi (Brendan) of College Station, TX; grandson Collin of College Station, TX; and siblings Sharon Bishop (Jerry) of Naples, FL, and Lawrence E. Lands of Jonesboro. Preceding was brother Jack “Junior” Lands. Memorial service held at Green Mountain United Methodist Church, 12755 W Cedar Drive in Lakewood on January 25th. Reception followed at Chad’s Grill, 275 Union Blvd in Lakewood. Memorial donations made to Green Mountain United Methodist Church, 12755 W Cedar Dr, Lakewood.
