Mary Lou was born in Bens Run, West Virginia to Clifford and Hilda (Tice) Leister. She was the oldest of 3 children (siblings, Margot Anne Leister Davison & David Eugene Leister). After graduating from St. Marys High School in 1953, she married James Robert Dotson of St. Marys, West Virginia. They moved to the east coast where she lived for the rest of her life, primarily in the Washington DC area.
Mary was an insurance underwriter and played organ in her church for 25 years.
She is survived by her younger sister, Margot (& Ray) Davison; 2 children, Doug (& Nancy) Dotson and Angela (& Gary) Adlington; niece Tracey Davison; nephew Scott (& Diana) Davison; 5 granddaughters, Sarah Dotson, Jessica Dotson Melchiors, Laurie, Kari and Valerie Adlington; and 2 great grandchildren, Alex and Caitlyn Melchiors.
