Ralph Robert Denton, Sr., 86, of Street, Maryland, entered eternal life on January 10, 2018 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Maryland. Born September 8, 1931 in St. Albans, New York, he was the son of the late John Daniel and Anna Laurie (Stuart) Denton. Married to his beloved wife Nancy A. (Lemons) Denton on June 15, 1968, they shared 49 years of marriage together. Ralph was an educated man, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Arts in Teaching from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. In his later years he also received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Towson University in Maryland. He was a retired Army recruiter, a consultant for the military, and volunteered as a teacher for ESL (English as a Second Language). He was an avid marksman and enjoyed black powder shoots, rendezvous camps, and sharp shooting. Ralph was a skilled actor in local community theater, and an active S.A.G. (Screen Actors Guild) card holder who appeared on stage and screen. In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his children: Paul Wood (Jay) of New Hampshire; Laurie Ann Denton of Pennsylvania; Diana Denton-Szmurlo (Florian) of Illinois; Jaqui Jan Denton-Hall (Douglas) of Pennsylvania; Lithia Marie Knopp (John) of Maryland; Ralph Robert Denton, Jr. of Maryland; Rance Douglas Denton (Kate) of Maryland; as well as his six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and cousin. Ralph was preceded in death by his brother, U.S. Army Sergeant Gregory J. D. Denton (M.J.) of California. Viewings were held Tues., Jan. 16, 2018, 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Penn. In memory of Ralph, the VFW Post #8672 from Jarrettsville had a service at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Parish, 1021 St. Mary's Road, Pylesville, Maryland with Reverend A. Henry Kunkel, III as celebrant. Interment to be scheduled in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the following: St. Jude's Children Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/, For the Love of a Veteran, https://www.fortheloveofaveteran.org or your choice of a local animal rescue center.

He was a veteran student when he attended The Citadel. He will be respectfully remembered by his Class of 1972 classmates and other Citadel alumni, family, and friends at a Memorial service held at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, Summerall Chapel, Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, 2 p.m.
