Katie Beard Gordy, 69 of Sylvania passed Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.
She was born in Millen, GA to the late Jesse Robert “J.R.” and Katie Laurie Fries Beard and had resided all her life in Sylvania. She retired from St. Joseph's Health Care as the Lifeline coordinator with nearly 23 years of service. She was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church, enjoyed quilting and painting and loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gordy.
Survivors include three sons and daughter-in-law, Robbie Gordy, Jason and Gina Gordy, and Jonathan Gordy, all of Sylvania; sister and brother-in-law, Jessie B. and Billy Taylor of Pooler; and grandchildren, John Gordy, Jinci Gordy, Jayden Gordy, Madison Gordy, Emily Gordy, Hunter Dasher, and Jillian Gordy; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00-7:00pm at the Joiner Anderson Funeral Home Screven Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Screven Chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Derek Hobbs officiating.
A private interment will follow in the Buck Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
