Carl graduated from Kokomo High School in 1949, served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1955, and attended Texas Western College (now known as UTEP).
On September 1, 1956, Carl married Helen Irene Loop in Kokomo, and this past September they celebrated 61 years of marriage. In 1958, Carl and Helen joined Englewood Christian Church, where Carl served as a bible school teacher, elder, and a founding volunteer at the Care Center, which was located in IPS School 3, now the home of the Commonwealth Apartments.
Carl worked at AT&T and Bell Laboratories, where among his many accomplishments he shared a patent with his colleagues for touch tone technology. He retired in 1988 to serve Englewood and the surrounding near East side neighborhoods he loved so well. Carl began his neighborhood ministry with his friend, Ernie Medcalfe. The two of them knocked on doors and helped scores of families by fixing appliances, delivering furniture and food, and helping with household repairs.
Carl and Helen had two sons, Thomas E. Webb (wife, Wenela Reyes-Webb and son, Ian) of San Francisco, and Stephen H. Webb, deceased, (wife, Diane Timmerman and children, Barek, Asher, Teka and Tsehai Webb) of Brownsburg; and daughter, Charis (husband Brian Kaltenecker and son, Charles Stephen) of North Carolina. Carl loved all of his grandchildren and his new great-grandson very much. Survivors also include his beloved wife, Helen, who was his partner in their lifetime of devotion to faith and family. Also surviving is his dear sister, Roberta Simpson and her husband, Ted of Port Angeles, WA. Many nieces and nephews and extended family members also survive to cherish his memory.
