Vivian N. Akers, 85, of Pontiac, died 11:25 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 18, 2018) at Accolade Healthcare, Pontiac.
She was born March 9, 1932 in Graymont, the daughter of Virgil and Mary (Crawford) Fosdick. She married Roy Akers, who passed away Aug. 28, 1988.
She is survived by her children, the Rev. Mark (Sharon) Akers, Carrolton, Texas, Vicki (Mike) Noe, Toluca and Sheila (John) Bowman, Cornell; sisters, Marilyn (Clay) Scurlock, Normal, and Ethel (John) Johnson, Bolivar, Missouri; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; sisters, Lorena Bachler, Barb Claudon and Clarita Borckey and brother, Clarence Fosdick.
She graduated from Pontiac Township High School and was office mail clerk at Pontiac Correctional Center until her retirement. She co-owned and operated Cities Service Gas Station in Pontiac with her husband for many years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pontiac, and served on church boards. Vivian enjoyed doing crochet, sewing and reading. She always felt her greatest accomplishment was raising her children to know the Lord.
