Dover, On January 17, 2018, Charles Ludwig Barshinger passed peacefully at Hospice and Community Care in Mt. Joy.

Born February 13, 1930 on the family farm in Windsor Township, his early life included Snells School, Sundays at Chapel Church in Red Lion, farm chores, mischief and the annual Grange picnic where he met his wife of 66 years, Catherine (Eveler) Barshinger. Charles was employed as a carpenter by Epstein Construction for 40 years.

Charles will be greatly missed by his wife, Catherine (Cass); daughter, Barbara Barshinger and partner, Scott Anderson of Annapolis, MD, daughter, Doris (Barshinger) Galliera and husband, Ted of Dover; and two granddaughters, Amy (Galliera) Braunlein of West Chester, and Andrea (Galliera) Bowes and husband, Jason of Mechanicsburg. Charles adored his four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Camilla Bowes and Samuel and Maxwell Braunlein. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Latimer T. Barshinger and Flora Mae (Ludwig) Barshinger; his brother, Purd Barshinger; and his sister, Sara Keller. He is survived by two sisters, Ellen Baer of Dallastown and Mary Becker of York and many treasured nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to so many people who cared for Charles including the compassionate staff at Hospice & Community Care, Apple Hill Rehabilitation Center, York Hospital, and Normandie Ridge nursing home. Charles was also thankful for his many good friends and neighbors.

A visitation with the family will be held on Monday, January 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 West Main Street, Dallastown. The funeral service follows immediately at 11 a.m., Deacon Daniel Bernardy officiating. Internment will follow in Dallastown Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charles may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 224 St. Charles Way, Suite 200, York, PA 17602 or any .
