Harvey J. Ancelet, Sr. 84, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in his Sulphur home surrounded by his family.

Harvey was a Kaplan native and has resided in Sulphur for 74 years. He graduated from Sulphur High where he played football in 1953. After graduation he joined the United States National Guard 156th Division serving for 11 years, helping with various national disasters. He retired from South Central Bell after 37 years as a cable repairman. During his “retirement” years he worked for Gulfgate Marine for 10 years and Robison Funeral Home for 5 years. Harvey was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, the Adoration Chapel and also one of the first Cursillo members.

He was a loving father and “Pop”. Harvey enjoyed Cajun music and dancing. He loved and spent many “vacations’ with his children and grandchildren showing pigs at the livestock shows.

Left to cherish his memory are his five children, Vicky Daigle (Wade), Harvey J. Ancelet, Jr. (Vicki), Beverly Nolen (Tom), Anna “DeeDee” Trahan (Mark) and Chad P. Ancelet (Melissa) all of Sulphur; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and special friend, Dean Viator.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Agnes Daigle Ancelet; his parents, Annies Hanks and Clorse Ancelet; step-father, Leon Hanks; and sister, Shella Linscomb.

The family would like to express a heartfelt “Thank You’ to the special angel who took care of our “Pops”, Nadiia Gennadievna; all the special sitters, and the nurses from Brighton Bridge Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 A.M. Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church with Father Andrews Kollannoor, M.S. officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3 – 9 P.M. Friday in Johnson & Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur with a recitation of the Cursillo Rosary at 7 P.M. Visitation will resume 8 A.M. Saturday in the funeral home until the processional to church at 9:30 A.M.
