Edward Monroe Lyons, age 75, of Cranberry, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at his home following a sudden illness.

Born on February 18, 1942, in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Edward Gruter Lyons (1911-1964) and Goldie Mammie-Lyons (1923-2005). In addition to his parents, Monroe was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Bell Lyons-Kennedy (Deceased) and Anna Mae Lyons-Arthur (1940-1980); and brothers, Charles "Charlie" Eugene Lyons (1944-1977), Carl Dempsey Lyons (1952-1974), Wayne Lyons (Deceased) and William "Glen" Lyons (1954-2006).

Monroe was retired from Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of Maple Fork Baptist Church and was a US Army Veteran. Monroe enjoyed fishing and collecting Dale Earnhart memorabilia.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 29 years, Inis Grimes-Young-Lyons; a son, Mike Lyons of Coal City; step children, Michael Young of Kansas City MO, Billy Young of Cleveland OH, and Robin Young of Prosperity; a brother, Rev. Frankie Lyons and wife, Peggy Lyons, of Beckley, and a sister, Susie Lyons-Murphy of Beckley; a granddaughter, Kimberly Lyons, ten step grandchildren, and 17 step great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Aubrey Richmond, also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at Maple Fork Baptist Church on Friday, January 19, 2018, at noon with Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
