PORTSMOUTH- Harvey Frank Moore, Sr., 88, died January 17, 2018. A native of Kansas City, MO, he was predeceased by his parents, Harvey Clinton and Alma Price Moore; daughter, Kathleen Hull; grandson, Larry M. Moore, Jr.; and two sisters, Jean Eeds and Dorothy F. Moore.

Harvey was a retired Coast Guard Lieutenant with 27 years of service. He later worked as a salesman at Electronics Unlimited in Portsmouth. He was a Boy Scout leader and member of the Coast Guard Warrant Officers Association, MOAA and Mideast Model Train Club.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Margaret M. Kent Moore; daughter, Carol Houchin and husband Mike; four sons, Harvey F. Moore, Jr., Larry M. Moore and wife Cindy, Daniel Moore and wife Susan, and Robert Moore, Sr. and wife Shae; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and many relatives in New York.

The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel on Monday from 6-8 PM. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 1 PM in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. A reception will follow at the Sturtevant Event Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
