Cecil Albert Potter, aged 94, relinquished life to rest in peace on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born on September 8, 1923 in Flint, Michigan and married his sweetheart in 1950. A man of duty and dignity, he retired from the United States Army Air Force as a First Lieutenant and co-piloted a bomber named “The Liberator” in World War II while stationed in Italy.

Following his service to our great country, Mr. Potter worked for 35 years as an Auto Body Specialist and District Service Manager for General Motors. After retirement, he and his family relocated from Memphis, Tennessee to Middleton, Tennessee where he raised cattle, horses, grandchildren and all in-between on his 90 acre farm. Mr. Potter enjoyed riding horses, making knives and loved airplanes.

This loyal husband, devoted father, and caring grandfather is survived by his loving bride of 67 years Doris Jeane (Trier) Potter; 3 daughters - Jill (Charles) Howell, Lynne Ellington, and Ruthie (Sammy) Woody; 6 grandchildren - Matt (Lillie) Howell, Shannon (Jimmy Brown) Russell, Mindy (John David) Meeks, Brianna Werner, Bryce Downen, and Aaron Downen. There are also 9 great-grandchildren - Abigail and Lexie Robinson, Andru, Blake and Ian Howell, Madison and Mason Darling, Gavin Brown, and Braden Albert Fender. Our favorite quote of his that never failed to be voiced at family gatherings was, “I cant believe Im responsible for all of this!”.
