Mrs. Janet Myers Shaw of Gordonsville died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon January 17, 2018 at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville where she was admitted that morning. The 64 year old Mrs. Shaw had suffered a stroke following heart surgery at Centennial Medical Center.
The daughter of Mr. John Frank Ellis who died June 19, 1995 at the age of 71 and Mrs. Naomi Estelle Kendall Ellis who died August 8, 2015 at the age of 85, she was one of six children and was born Janet Yvonne Ellis in Marion in Grant County, Indiana on May 31, 1953.
A sister, Carolyn Sue Ellis Tollett preceded Mrs. Shaw in death at the age of 53 on January 15, 2017.
She was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Nelson Myers who died at the age of 63 on October 29, 2014.
She was a longtime manager of the McDonalds in Gordonsville and in 2015 retired with twenty plus years of service.
Mrs. Shaw attended the Carthage First Freewill Baptist Church in the Tanglewood Community.
Surviving are her two daughters, Kim Silcox of Monoville, Carrie Myers of the Turkey Creek Community; three grandchildren, Kielie and Kayla Barrett, Tre Gammons; two sisters, Shirley Carter of Carthage, Mary Thomas and husband Tommy of the Graveltown Community; two brothers, Curtis Ellis and wife Jean of Winchester, William Ellis of the Bradford Hill Community; longtime companion, Kevin Pruett of Gordonsville.
