Margaret Marge Louise Becker, 93, of Berwick passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Berwick Retirement Village II. She was born June 16, 1924, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter to the late Edwin and Margaret (Walsh) Mickler.
Marge was a graduate in the Class of 1942 at Meyers High School in Wilkes-Barre. She first worked at the Investors Syndicate in Wilkes-Barre, and then at Nellie Wellivers Store in Berwick, before taking time off to raise her family. Her final 14 working years were spent at the Berwick Public Library.
Spending time with family was the most important thing to Marge. She was an avid reader and a member of St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, where she served as a greeter. She also was a volunteer at the Berwick Hospital Gift Shop.
Marge was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Surviving Marge are five children: Benjamin P. Becker Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Berwick, Thomas Becker and wife, Cathy, of Mechanicsburg, Jeffrey Becker of Florida, David Becker and wife, Helene, of Swoyersville, and Barbara Kampf and husband, Dr. Stephen Kampf, of Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
As well as her parents, Marge was preceded in death June 8, 1987, by her loving husband, Benjamin Pettebone Becker Sr. Also preceding were four brothers: Dr. Robert Mickler, Attorney Thomas Mickler, William Mickler, and Edward Walsh.
A Mass of Christian will be celebrated by Fr. Patrick Devine 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at St. Marys Church, 1730 Fowler Ave., Berwick. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until time of the Mass. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
