Vincent A. Phillips Jr., 73, was called to rest on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey. Born on Dec. 31, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late Earl Fleming Sr. and Louise Phillips.
He received his education in the Catholic school system of Brooklyn. He later moved to Sumter, where he was employed by Southern Chemical Co., Harkins Moving and Storage and Tuomey Healthcare System.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Cabbagestalk Phillips of the home; five sons, Andre Mickens of the home, Jermaine (Trina) Cabbagestalk of Alaska, Cedrick (Rosemary) Williams of Sumter, Vincent Phillips and Marsay Huston of Rochester, New York; two daughters, LaJuana (Carl) Perrin of Detroit and Shelby Phillips of Florida; five sisters, Patricia (Travis) Dinkins of Wedgefield, Stephanie Joe of Sumter, Theresa (Dewitt) Taylor of Saint Stephen, Alice (Wendell) Lee of Whitesville, North Carolina, and Sandra (Johnathan) Peacock of Buffalo, New York; three brothers, Earl Fleming Jr. of Buffalo, Gregory and William Fleming of Tampa, Florida; one aunt, Mary P. Hunt of Atlanta; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
