HOOKERTON | Phillip Curtis Everett, 23, passed away Saturday evening, May 13, 2017. Phillip was born February 18, 1994, the son of Curt and Crystal Everett. Phillip was a graduate of Greene Central High School and worked with his father in construction and site preparation at Curt Everett Grading and Clearing. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish and generally being surrounded by his friends. Phillip grew up in the Hookerton community and gave back to it as a member of the Hookerton Fire Department. Phillip is survived by his parents, Curt and Crystal Everett of Hookerton; his sister, whom he referred to just as "Sister," Brandi Whaley and her fiancé Martin Grist, of Charlotte; paternal grandmother, Polly Everett of Hookerton; maternal grandparents, Richard and Mary Orth of Kinston; uncles, Tony Everett and wife Marguerite, of Hookerton, Ernie Everett and wife Marenda, of Kinston, and Tommy McCall of Kinston; and special cousins, Justin Everett and friend Taylar Keel, Amanda Everett and friend Kyle Sullivan, and Scott McCall. Phillip was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Frederick Lee Everett. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harrell's Chapel OFWB Church. Interment will immediately follow at the Hookerton UMC Cemetery. The services will include the rendering of honors by the Fireman's Honor Guard of Hookerton VFD and other departments within Greene County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service and other times at the home of his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phillip's memory, that will be used to help others, may be directed to Greene County Cares, c/o Gwen Smith, 615 Hardy Road, Snow Hill, NC 28580. Arrangements are by Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service.
