Lillian A. Schmidt, 86, of Jansen, Nebraska passed away January 16, 2018 in Lincoln. She was born June June 9, 1931 to Andrew F. and Frieda L. (Ortgies) Hohensee at Daykin, Nebraska.

She was baptized June 21, 1931 by Rev. Brokering at St. John Lutheran Church at Daykin and confirmed June 18, 1944. Her confirmation verse was Isaiah 41:10.

She lived in the Daykin area until she was 12 years old and then moved to the Gladstone area. Lillian graduated from Fairbury High School in 1948. She taught school from 1948 until 1953.

On June 7, 1953 she married Darold Schmidt at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury by Rev. A. Bruenger in a double wedding ceremony. After they married, they made their home south of Plymouth. They were blessed with two children, son David and daughter Janet.
Lillian was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Harbine. She worked at Swingsters in Fairbury for 22 years. In her spare time she enjoyed counted cross stitching and embroidering.

Her survivors are husband Darold of Jansen, son David L. Schmidt of Plymouth, granddaughter Christina (Jeff) Swenson of Lincoln, step-granddaughter Jacqelyn Hand of Kansas City, MO, great-grandchildren Seth & Makayla Pooler, Dezirea Swenson, step-great-grandchildren Caden, Araina & Aislynn Swenson all of Lincoln and numerous great-great-grandchildren, brother Gwendell Hohensee of Lincoln and sister Devonne Domineck of Aurora, CO.

Preceding her in death are her parents, sister Wanda Sellenrick, brothers-in-law Robert Domineck and Ronald Sellenrick, sister-in-law Lois Hohensee and daughter Janet McGrane.

Services will be Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Harbine, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Wagener officiating. The family will greet friends Saturday from 2-4- p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Harbine. Memorials to the Family's choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
