PORTLAND - Elizabeth V. Olsen, 99, passed away on Jan. 8, 2018, at The Cedars, in Portland.
Elizabeth was born in Concord, N.H., on July 20, 1918, to Emma A. Miniutti and Stefano Genini. She attended Walker Street School and graduated from Concord High School in 1935. After graduation, she was employed by New Hampshire State Liquor Commission.
Elizabeth married Robert A. Olsen in Concord, N.H., on April 20, 1947. After a year or so, they moved to the greater Portland area. For a short time, she was employed by IBM in the 1950s. Shortly after, they purchased a home in South Portland on Romano Road, where they remained for 50 years. For the past 14 years, Mrs. Olsen has resided at the Woods of Canco.
During her working career, she was employed at Mercy Hospital as ward clerk on the maternity ward, and the men's ward. Elizabeth enjoyed her time at Mercy immensely. On leaving that position, she was employed at Blue Cross/Blue Shield in the companion plan claims department, until she retired.
In her earlier years, she was a member of the Emblem Club, as well as the Italian Heritage Club.
Elizabeth enjoyed golfing with her husband, and they both square and round danced, and belonged to the Sunset Squares for many years. She also enjoyed taking travel trips with the Westbrook Seniors.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her brother, Hugo Genini; and her beloved husband, Robert A. Olsen.
Elizabeth is survived by a daughter, Jane Johnson, and her husband, Ernest Johnson, of Raymond; granddaughter, Denise Plummer, and her husband, Alan, of Raymond; grandson, Douglas Johnson, and his wife, Tonya, of Limington; great-grandson, Jayson Plummer, of Raymond; and great-granddaughters, Anya and Audrey Johnson, of Limington. She is also survived by a few nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring at Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Portland. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, in South Portland. Arrangements are under the guidance of
