Newark - Sara "Tootsie" Rose, age 81, of Newark, DE,passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Sara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the heart and soul of the family and will be missed terribly. Sara always gave of herself and never expected anything in return. She enjoyed spending time with family as well as visiting various casinos and taking long drives.

Sara was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Sara Thorpe; brothers, Harold, Ray, Donald and Bill; and sister, Dorothy. She is survived by her devoted husband David of 63 years; her sons, Ralph Rose of New Castle and Robert Rose of California; her daughters Dorrene Green (John) of New Castle and Suzanne Rose (Gary Dunkelberger) of Newark; six grandchildren, Sharon (Ken), Laura (Bill), Bethany, Melanie, Nicole (Izzy) and Denise, as well as six great grandchildren, Olivia, Liam, Quinn, Finley, Sommer and JR. Sara is also survived by her three sisters, Peggy Hall (Ken), Jackie King and Geraldine Nawocin, as well as one brother Robert Thorpe.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
