MARGARET'S OBITUARY
Margaret Mary Hammond, 95, a longtime resident of the Gaston community passed away on January 6, 2018 at the Marquis Acute Care Home in Forest Grove.
She met her future husband, Francis C. "Chick" Hammond, at a 4th of July dance, Following a short courtship they married on September 19, 1939 (EDIT; they were actually married in 1937, the Author of the obit wrote it wrong) in Independence, CA. Their first home was in Keelar, CA. and then they moved Arizona where Chick took up a job as a cook at the Cinnabar mines. In 1940 they moved back to Los Angeles and from there different cities in southern California. The settled in Gardena, CA where Chick and Margaret started their Pest control business, "Chicks Termite Control" (EDIT; they actually bout the termite business) a business they ran for over twenty years. Upon retirement they moved to Perris, CA, and fifteen years later in 1992 moved to their home in Gaston.
She accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord in 1952 and has endeavored to serve Him since.
Some of her hobbies included ceramic painting, collecting dolphins, photography and gardening. She enjoyed Horses, traveling to the coast especially beachcombing. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Chick, a daughter; Carol Lee Hammond, a son; Donald Hammond, a daughter-in-law; Sandi Hammond, a son-in-law; Charles Bennett, a brother; Thomas Hammond and her parents.
She is survived by five children and their spouses; Charles Hammond of Forest Grove, Christine Bennett of Gaston, Cindy and Larry Pickett of Gaston, Joann and Dan Sandstrom of Lakewood, CA, Frances and Rollie Harvey of Long Beach, CA, a Daughter-in-law; Sandi Hammond of Gaston, a brother Gary Benton of Oakland, CA, sixteen grandchildren, Seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. (EDIT; at the time of death she actually had two great-great grand children)
