James B. Porter, 57, of 404 Marshfield Road, Northwood, died yesterday at his home after a lengthy illness.

A lifelong resident of the Wilmington area, he had worked at the Du Pont Co. Edge Moor plant for 30 years as a pipe fitter. He was a member of the Du Pont Quarter Century Club.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Fairfax Lodge, IOOF; Oriental Lodge NO. 27, AF & AM; Nur Shrine Temple and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Laura L. Porter, and three sisters, Mrs. Helen Crather, Mrs. Mildred Hammond, Mrs. Bessie Casson, all of Wilmington.

Services will be at the McCrery Funeral Home, 2700 Washington St., Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with interment in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow night after 7. Oriental Lodge 27, AF and AM will conduct services tomorrow night at 7 and Fairfax Lodge, IOOF, at 8.
