Janice Coleman Stroud Peeler Terry, 78, of Abbeville, entered into eternal life Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. She was born in Greenwood to the late Wiley T. and Sara Bracknell Coleman.
Janice was a 1957 graduate of Abbeville High School and a 1970 graduate of Lander University. She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught in the Abbeville and McCormick County Schools for 20 years. Janice was of the Baptist faith. She had a caring heart; her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Her friendly nature was evident to everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Robert “Bob” Stroud and F. Coleman Peeler and a grandson, Jared Coleman Peeler.
Janice is survived by two sisters, Anne C. Ferguson (Joe) of Gastonia, NC and Nina C. Chandler (Joe) of Eden, NC; grandchildren, Whitney Stroud Peirce, Megan Nicole Peeler and John Patrick Peeler; great-grandchildren, Sydney Kay Peeler and Hanley Quinn Peirce; many nieces and nephews; and close friends, the Gin Glace family and Buddy Reid family.
The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:00PM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials, in memory of Janice, are sent to the American Cancer Society, c/o Conway Shirley, PO Box 566, Due West, SC 29639 or to the charity of one’s choice.
