Larry Kenneth Brooks, 72, of Springfield, formerly of Danville, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Hospice at Heritage. He was born September 9, 1945, in Danville to the late Everett Kenneth and Doris Lavern Winn Brooks.

Larry proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of Elks Club 158, Knights of Columbus 4175, and was very active in the Central Illinois Corvettes Club for many years. He loved his cars. Larry was also an avid golfer and was on a league with the Knights of Columbus.

He worked as a supervisor for the Illinois Department of Revenue for 35 years, before he retired.
He is survived by his beloved aunt, Genevieve Citizen of Danville, Ill., and other family members.

Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Chatham, before services.
Committal service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 18, in the chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 3901 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61832, with Fr. Timothy Sauppe' officiating. Military honors will be accorded.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 210, 201 Prospect Place, Danville, IL, 61832.
