Gene Oren Brewer age 86, of Newalla, OK passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Norman Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Gene was born September 23, 1931 in Fairview, OK the oldest of eight children born to Oren David Brewer and Artie Myrtle (Dyche) Brewer. Gene grew up on a farm and was taught good work ethic from a young age. He graduated from Cheyenne Valley High School in Orienta, OK in 1949. In 1952 he enlisted into the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country four years during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Henryetta, Oklahoma, married and raised one son, Lonnie. While living in the area, Gene attended Okmulgee Vo-Tech and became a licensed Electrician. He later moved to Newalla in the late 1970’s and went to work in OKC for Shawver and Son Electrical Contractor. Gene worked there until he retired in 1996. During his working years, Gene became a member of the IBEW and the Electrician Local Union #1141 in OKC. After Gene retired, he helped his son Lonnie establish his photography business in Goldsby called “Digital Express”. He was a licensed private pilot and throughout his life he enjoyed flying. He also enjoyed golfing and the outdoors. For over forty years Gene enjoyed traveling, going to concerts and going to horse races with his close friend, Betty Herrold. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Oren and Artie Brewer; Son, Lonnie Brewer; Two great grandchildren, Carson Brewer and Asha Albert.

He is survived by: Two granddaughters, Stefanie Stephens of Goldsby, Darcie Albert of Norman, Two great grandchildren, Macie and Cason; Daughter-in-law, Cindy Brewer of OKC, Seven sisters and brothers, Margaret Johnson of Louisiana, Kenneth Brewer and wife Pearl of Kansas, Lois Martin of Piedmont, OK, Loren Brewer and wife Doris of Edmond, OK, Norma Strecker and husband Stanley of Morris, OK, Todd Brewer of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Joyce Patzkowsky and husband Merle of Fairview, OK; One aunt, Mary VanMeter of Texas. Many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel, Purcell, OK. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
