DECATUR -- Jon “Mike” Overheul, 73 of Decatur died at 2:57 am. Monday, January 15, 2018 in St. Mary’s Hospital.

Funeral service to celebrate his life will be 11:00 am. Thursday January 18, 2018 at Life Foursquare Church (2954 W. Ash Avenue Decatur, IL. 62526) with Pastor Chuck Ferris officiating. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Mike asked for memorial donations be made to the following ministries: Youth With A Mission – Creel, Mexico; Gospel Exports; and In His Hands Orphans Outreach – Haiti. Jon “Mike” Overheul was born on March 13, 1944 in Decatur, IL, the son of Menno and Irene (Fitzgerald).He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sheila; their seven sons Todd, Rodney Harrison, Craig, Darrell Harrison, Michael, Jon (Kathi), and James; brothers Richard (Della) and Bud (Beverly); sisters Janie and Sally; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mike served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 through 1966. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator and used those skills throughout his life to provide for his family.

Mike served Christ by helping others through his missionary efforts in Mexico and his food ministry efforts here in Macon County.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, brother Steve, and brother David.
