CUBA - Anna M. Ayers, 101, of 9459 Keller Hill Road, Cuba, passed away Sunday (Jan. 14, 2018) at Cuba Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, after a brief illness, just fifteen days short of her 102nd birthday.
Born on Jan. 29, 1916, in Painesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Mary Kish Fodor. On Apr. 22, 1946, she married A. Cole Ayers, who predeceased her on Apr. 1, 1999.
Anna was a graduate of Cuba High School. She was employed by Millie B. Stevens Liquor Store in Cuba and later at Schryvers Market in Cuba, from where she retired. She will be remembered as a simple woman who loved her family, reading, walks in the woods, digging leeks with her sister, Irene, and long rides on the country backroads. She always said she enjoyed "peace and quiet and a few nice words."
She is survived by her children, James (Kathy) Ayers of Cuba and Theresa Baldwin of Bolivar; grandchildren, Lee Greene, Heidi (Lee) Sadler, Jody Baldwin, John (Carol) Ayers and Melissa (Aaron) Reichman; great-grandchildren, Cassandra (Michael) Roeske, Jessica (Josh) Weaver, Kevin Greene, Justin Greene, Sabrina Baldwin, Lee Sadler Jr., Kyle Sadler, Lakelynn Baldwin, Addison Reichman and Zaven Reichman; great-great-grandchildren, Lillianna Greene, Hayle Greene, Wyatt Weaver, Tesslynn Weaver, Landen Schappacher, Hayden Schappacher, Hudson Roeske and Leira Sadler; a sister, Mary Nease of Cuba; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph, Irene and Helen; and in-laws, Edwin and Emma Cole Ayers.
In honoring her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba.
