Robert L. Quirk, 98, entered Eternal Life Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Teresian House. Born in Utica, he was the son of the late James and Mary Kennedy Quirk.

Robert was a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps, and served his Country during WW II. He was the recipient of the American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. SGT. Quirk participated in some of the most epic and storied battles and campaigns of that war, including Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He belonged to America’s Greatest Generation.

Robert was a graduate of Albany High School, and Siena College. He retired as a tax examiner after many years of service with New York State Taxation and Finance.

He was the husband of the late Anne McArdle Quirk; dear father of Eileen Fox (Raymond), Kevin Quirk (Mary), Margaret Perry (James), James Quirk (Jenny) John Quirk (Patricia) and the late M. Kelly Guthrie (Joseph): cherished grandfather of Brendon Fox (Amanda), Kyla Fox Scherer (John Andrew), Ryan Guthrie (Kelsey), Sean Perry, Lauren Quirk, Steven Quirk, Thomas Quirk and Molly Quirk; great grandfather of Hadley Grace Scherer, Scarlett Fox Scherer, Evelyn Kennedy Fox, Hazel May Fox, Mary Helen Guthrie and Jack Ryan Guthrie; brother of James, Edward, Michael, Andrew, William, and Robert Quirk, and Mary Quirk Rowe; many nieces and nephews survive.

The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, immediately following the Funeral Mass.
