Ronald Dean Dixon, born March 9, 1937, rode off into the sunset on January 14, 2018 after more than eighty years on the trail. Ron, an ol' country boy and true friend, kept his word, played when the chores were done, had a place for everything, and knew how to tell a "better" story.

Born and raised in Pine Canyon, “Ronnie" was the oldest of Bill and Donna's six children where family life was centered on faith, hearty food, and endless debates over the merits of Fords vs. Chevys. He became an avid outdoorsman hunting, fishing and riding his beloved horses. He excelled in athletics playing many sports in school and beyond. He was noted for his blazing fast ball in fast pitch softball, which he played into his forties.

He met and fell in love with his eternal sweetheart, (Helena) Gay Stevens, at Tooele High School. They married on April 20, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple, and were blessed with sixty-one years together before her death in 2017. Together, they raised five children: Kevin and Kelly (both deceased), Jim (Lindsey), Melyn (Shane), and Gordon (Brenda); and were the ultimate grandparents to fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Ron's perfectionism served him well as a machinist and quality engineer for over forty-one years at L3. He was an unfailing home teacher and his favorite calling was as a counselor to Bishop Wayne Watts. Amid the pride of his Western mentality, he leaves his family and friends a legacy of love and service to try to emulate. We wish him happy trails.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Harvest Park Ward Chapel, 3671 South Oldham Street (4180 West). Viewings will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West), and prior to the services at the church on Wednesday from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
