OBIT: The death of Mr. John Jacob Moratz Subke, an old settler of McLean County, occurred at midnight Christmas night at the home of his son on the Bender farm, four miles north of Arrowsmith, as the result of the debility of age. The deceased was born in Nepernitz, Island Ruegen, Germany. His age was 83 years, 10 months, and 29 days. He was married to Miss Caroline Koch on October 30, 1838, she having died December 20, 1896. Four children survive him as follows: Fred of Covel; William of this City; Charles living near Arrowsmith; and Mrs. Charles Ewert of Bloomington. Mr. Subke had lived in this city for thirty years. The body will be brought to this city today on the Lake Erie train at 2:12 o'clock in the afternoon. The funeral announcement will be found in another column.
