In the early morning hour, on Wednesday January 10th 2018, God gracefully called Karen Sue Knight(Buttery)home to heaven after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Karen was the first born to Fred and Joan Buttery on April 9th 1957 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Karen began her early education in Kalamazoo and graduated from Gull Lake high School in 1975. She then finished a degree in recreational therapy at Lake Michigan College in Buchanan. Karen married Richard W. Knight on February 12th 1988 and from their union one child was born. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband of 30 years Richard Knight; One daughter; Jeanette (Cory) Knight-Newman, Parents Fred and Joan Buttery, Sister; Kristine (Wayne) Block, and nephew and Niece Andrew (Lauren) Block, and Katie (Aaron) Herrera, Grandchildren; Isabella, Declan, and Pierce. Also left to cherish her memory, godson T.J. Knight and a very special friend Ginger (Jerry) Beatty, as well as a host of other friends and companions. Karen was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Karen was an avid horsewomen, and spent her past time with her horse Dollar. She was also a baker, and enjoyed spending holidays baking treats for friends and loved ones. She was a member of the Izaak Walton League, and always participated in the annual events. Karen worked as a Caseworker for the State of Indiana helping the less fortunate for over 20 years.

With sincere appreciation we wish to thank our many friends and family for your expressions of kindness during our bereavement. Arrangements have been entrusted to Elkhart Cremation Services. Visitations will be held Saturday January 27th, at 3:00 pm, Memorial Service at 4:00 pm with dinner to follow. Services will be held at Community Congregational Church, 19671 Cleveland Rd, South Bend, Indiana 46637.
