Co. C, 4th Delaware. His Military records has him as Joseph Boys. His name is misspelled on his headstone. Also on his Memorandum From Prisoner of War Records has his alternate names and headstone number on it. James Boys or James Bocie. His Casualty Sheet has him as J. Boice. His Company Description Book has him as Joseph Boys. I would think his Description List is right and his Muster Roll name is right since it was written when he was alive. See pictures. There is no Joseph Boice in the 4th Delaware Infantry. I have looked in all the military records of the 4th and the spelling of Boice does not show up until you are at Andersonville records which have been known as being wrong as of many National Cemeteries have admitted. Historians have been wrong and the park service has been wrong my there own admitting. Not everything written in stone is right. Not everything written is right. It's how the people interpreted.
Captured at West Point, VA.
