On 1/3/2018, Roy K. Abat, 90, of Lakeland passed quietly. Roy was born December 29, 1927 in Ferriday, Louisiana to George and Bernice Abat. He was one of four children. Roy was a member of the U.S. Navy. His career life in the D.C. area included working in sales, first in the automobile industry and then for 3M Company for years, both in D.C. area and Florida. Upon retirement he spent time golfing and aircraft model building. He also loved cooking and reading as well. Roy is survived by his wife, Barbara Abat of Lakeland, Florida; his children: son, Gregory R. Abat, Tampa; daughters: Leslie (Bill) Kregloe, Myrtle Beach, Bettye (Alan) Sierichs, San Antonio, TX, Karen Abat (Dean Vogt), Bend, OR; grandson, Kristian Looney (Charity), Bridgewater, VA.; granddaughter, Carolyn Sierich, San Antonio, TX; great grandchildren, Aaron, Bren-na, & Kelton Looney, Charleston, VA., brother-in-law, William D. Hughes, Alabama. He is predeceased by his parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and 1 niece. Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, 10:00 a.m. with interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, all on January 19, 2018. Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church, Lakeland or your favorite charity.
