US Congressman. He graduated from Harvard in 1790, studied law, and became an attorney in 1793. He served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1805, and was state Attorney General from 1805 to 1806. In 1810 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Federalist and served one term. He served in the New Hampshire House again in 1813 and was a member of the New Hampshire Senate from 1814 to 1815. In 1816 he returned to the position of state Attorney General, holding office until 1835. He was the son of John Sullivan and nephew of James Sullivan, who represented New Hampshire and Massachusetts in the Continental Congress.
