John served in the United States Army. He was a graduate of St. Gregory High School and was employed at Welch Foods until retirement in 1973. John was a member of the RC Model Airplane Flying Club and collected Native American artifacts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Louise Ballew Chimera in 1983; sisters, Loretta Reinkober, Carrie Yori, Nancy Chimera, Josephine Beebe, Antonette Riley; and brothers, Frank, Benny and Russell Chimera.
John is survived by his daughters, Helen Barlow of DeSoto, Texas, Deborah Cihon (David) of North East, Leora Sines (Bud) of North East, Penny Vorn of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and Marian Chimera of North East; sisters, Elena Brady (Francis) of Cleveland and Christina Bailey (James) of North East; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Interment in North East Cemetery.
