Funeral services for Edith Bernice Gray, 105, of Ninnekah, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Parkview Christian Church with Jerl Joslin officiating and Justin Avery assisting.

Edith Bernice (Armour) Gray was born on February 5, 1912 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Albert Edward Armour and Qwenola “Nola” Florine (Wilson) Armour. She died Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma.

Edith grew up and attended school in Garber, Oklahoma. As a young woman, she worked as a telephone operator in Enid.

She met Luther Emery “Red” Gray, a pilot, and they were married on November 7, 1930 in Enid, Oklahoma. They enjoyed 65 years together, living in various places, including Ponca City and Houston, while Red worked for Continental Oil Company. Wherever Red’s work took them, she was right by his side supporting him, raising the children and making their house a home. In 1962, they moved to Ninnekah, Oklahoma onto Red’s Indian land.

During her life, she enjoyed playing golf, bridge, boating, canning and making jelly. She was also a skilled seamstress. She liked traveling in a RV caravan with her sisters and brother.

Edith was a member of Parkview Christian Church. She had been the PTA president, a member of DAR, and a Sunday school teacher in Houston during her earlier years. She was extremely cherished by her grandchildren and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Albert and Nola Armour; husband, Luther “Red” Gray; sisters, Ruth Armour, Helen Perrin, Wanda Steed, and Joan Watson; and brothers, Edward Armour and David Armour.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Berta Lee and Dan Johnson of Ninnekah and Ann and Howard Victery of Ninnekah; grandsons and wives, Dr. David and Fahaa Roberts of Gainesville, Florida , Mark and Karen Roberts of Dallas, Texas, and Joe and Kourtney Victery of Ninnekah; granddaughter and husband, LeeAnn and Ricky Burns of Norman; great-grandchildren, Clifton Roberts, Bronwen Roberts, Emma Victery, Joseph Victery, and Amelia Burns; and other extended family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Christian Church.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral
