Josephine Quinn Thomas, 87, died peacefully in her family’s home on Wednesday December 27th, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born December 9, 1930 in New York City, the daughter of Irish immigrants Joseph P. Quinn and Rose A. McGovern.

She is survived by her children Robert Thomas, George Thomas, Neale Thomas, Tammy Patti, Peter Thomas, Colin Thomas and Heather Thomas; brother, Eammon Quinn; sisters, Dorothy Kenny, Yvonne Quinn; and grandchildren, John Thomas, Gregory Thomas, Kristen Hirst, Lindsey Thomas, Mark Thomas, Jessica Thomas, Kelly Dickinson, Sean Patti, Kathleen Patti, Blake Thomas and Rachel Thomas; many nieces and nephews, other family and friends. Her sister, Elaine Gillrup and former husband preceded her in death.

Josephine was devoutly religious and a long-time active member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She kept everyone in her prayers and found great comfort in her faith. Josephine was uplifting, loving and caring. She was a consummate working mother who retired from Bell South decades ago and then worked at Preston Pharmacy until she became ill. Even to the end, she was expressing her desire to return to work to see her customers and pray for those who needed it. Josephine enjoyed spending time with her family and making afghans for her loved ones so they were wrapped in warmth, love and beauty - - the same feeling Josephine gave to all those who knew her. We will always be wrapped in the warmth of her love!

As Josephine would say quoting the traditional Gaelic blessing: “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand”.
