Joseph E. May 71 of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic Hospital.

Mr. May was born in Troy, Pa. and was the son of the late Arthur E. and Genevieve J. (Bebble) May. He was retried from the Bureau of Industrial Safety with the Dept. of Labor and Industry, where he was Director of Field Operations. He was a life member of Harrisburg VFW Post 1718 and the Canton Fire Dept. He was a member of the Valley of Towanda Masonic Lodge AASR, Valley of Williamsport Consistory AASR, Canton Blue Lodge# 415 F&AM and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a former coach with the Canton Little League.

Mr. May is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Nye) May; his step-son, Bryan D. Nye; his son, Joseph Scott (Betsy) May; his daughter, Carrie A. (Richard Toltzis) Madigan; his grandsons, Brandon and Nicholas May, Matthew and Zachary Madigan; his sister, Kathy L. May; Sharon May, mother of his children.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 6011 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg. Inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with Full Military Honors.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, from 10 to 11 A.M. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
