Judy Lee, 75, formerly of Spring Grove

Judy Jo Anne Lee, 75, of Houston, died on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at Tweeten Care Center in Spring Grove.

She was born on Aug. 5, 1942, in Spring Grove to Jay and Beulah (Forde) Kallis.

She attended a one-room school house in Rooster Valley near her home place. She then went to Spring Grove Elementary and graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1962.

After high school, she worked at Mayo Clinic Rochester as a surgery tech and worked with Dr. Will Mayo.

She married Jerry Lee at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer on May 5, 1962. Together they owned and operated the Lee Homestead farm located in Yucatan. She worked as a partner on the farm with her husband and was busy raising three children. They started the Houston Insurance Agency where she served as the organizer, the bookkeeper and insurance secretary until the last 20 years when she became a licensed insurance agent, too. She continued working on the farm and enjoyed being outside.

She collected many Scandinavian antiques as part of her heritage and proudly displayed them. She and her husband welcomed many new people to the area and made them feel like family. She enjoyed camping, mini-trips, dancing, snowmobiling and shopping with family. She loved her family, playing games with them and attending their sporting events.

She was actively involved in Cross of the Christ Church, the Yucatan Homemakers, the Houston Community, a supporter of the Houston Booster Club, she loved to entertain and host parties, she enjoyed a good game of bingo, enjoyed humor and playing jokes on friends. She enjoyed baking and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry of 55 years; three children, Kari (Mike) Odenbrett of Preston, Duron (Shelly) Lee of Houston and Jon (Lisa) Lee of Houston; six grandchildren, Vanessa, Dylan, Nathan, Rebecca, Cohl and Cameron; a sister, Kae (Richard) Townsend of Osage, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Beverly Kallis of Spring Grove and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Rodney Kallis and nephew, Gordy Kallis.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Rev. Linda McPeak officiating. Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service assisted the family.
