W.F."Tooter" Reed, 78, of Kress passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 14, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Kress with Pastor Wil Fish officiating. Burial will follow in Kress Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
A visitation will be held on Saturday evening, January 13, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview.
Tooter was born on September 16, 1939 in Hale County, Texas to Jack and Rachel Reed. He attended schools in Kress and graduated from Kress High School. He worked for Band Ag for several years before going into business for himself. He owned and operated Tooter's Tire Service for 32 years. He married Betty Haliburton on May 5, 1978 in Kress. Tooter was a big supporter of youth and was a 4-H Leader for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kress, and was a member of the Lions Club. He also served as the Mayor of Kress for several years. Tooter loved nothing more than his family and absolutely cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tooter was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Peggy Jo Jones, Jackie Sue Allen; and a son-in-law, Rick Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Reed of Kress; his children, Debbie Long and husband Bill of Fairfax, MO, Brenda Nelson of Amarillo, TX, Billy Reed of Deville, LA, Bill Heaton and wife Tonya of Amarillo, TX, Paige Sanders and husband Brad of Amarillo, TX, Jack Reed and wife Shelley of Brownwood, TX, Robert Wofford and wife Kim of Canyon, TX, Karen Wofford of Palo Pinto, TX; two brothers, Harold Dean Reed and wife Joyce of Whitesboro, TX, Clifton "Bub" Reed of Collinsville, TX; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
