Joseph Dell Huggins, 81, of Bear River City, Utah passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 after suffering a stroke.

Joe Dell was born on Feb. 18, 1936 in Bear River City, the youngest child of Joseph Ernest and Andrea Hansen Huggins. He graduated 2nd in his class from Box Elder High School, where he was the recipient of the prestigious Tom Harding Award. He attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

He worked his entire life on his family farm, west of Bear River City.

On March 4, 1955, Joe Dell married his high school sweetheart, Feilila Rlene Burt in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children. Feilila died on Sept. 23, 1989.

On June 30, 1990, Joe Dell married LaNette Thomas Udy in Riverside, Utah. He became a loving step-father and grandfather to LaNette’s family.

Joe Dell was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various capacities including, elders Quorum President, ward financial clerk, high priest group secretary, and home teacher. He and LaNette served in the Nauvoo, Ill. Mission from 2006- 2008. They cherish the memories and friendships they made there.

Joe Dell is survived by his loving wife, LaNette Huggins; sons, Clark (AnnMarie) Huggins of Bear River City, and John Huggins of Kearns, Utah; daughters, Roberta (Kurt) Barraclough of Jacksonville, Flo., and Kathy (Kent) Bunn of Montpelier, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Ann Huggins of Bear River City; 21 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one step-son, Bart (Josie) Udy of Tremonton; stepdaughters, JaNette (Wayne) Rhodes of Tremonton; Lisa (Darwin) Carter, of Garland, and Laurie (Carl) Butler of Pocatello, Idaho; 14 step-grandchildren, 29 step-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Rosie Huggins, and brother-in-law, L.D. Thomas (Sidney).

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Feilila Burt Huggins; son, Joe D. Huggins; grandson, Justin Clark Huggins; great-granddaughter, Savannah Deis; brother & sister-in-law, Farrell & Marge Huggins; sister & brother-in-law, Fae Ann & James Karo; brother, Ernest Reese Huggins; step-granddaughter, Mary Bowen; and brother & sister-in-law, Rowane & Jay Westergard.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. Viewings will be held on Sunday evening Oct. 22, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral service on Monday from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. All services will be held at the Bear River City LDS Chapel, 5870 N. 4700 W., Bear River City. Interment in the Bear River City Cemetery.
