Additional Information:

Nathaniel was a member of Company E, 4th Delaware Infantry Regiment.
He was wounded June 18, 1864 while in the 4th Division under the command of General Cutler in the Battle for Petersburg, VA and taken to City Point Hospital (about 12 miles from battle ground).

He was wounded in the back, shoulder and side. His leg had to be amputated. He died June 23, 1864 in the City Point Army Field Hospital. He was taken into this field hospital on the first day it was open and was among 4000 wounded soldiers brought in that day. When he died he was buried temporarily in a plot by the hospital and had a board with name on it marking grave. When his body was transferred, the name was mistakingly put down as "M. D." instead of "N. G." McCormick.
