"Daniel Henry Wilder went to be with Jesus on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville. He was born on November 16, 1933 to Henry and Phronia Wilder of Big Laurel, KY. He came to Shelby County in his early 20’s for work, and stayed because that is where he met the love of his life.

Daniel married Dora Lee Hawkins on September 19, 1953. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Together, they raised 3 adoring children, Carolyn Wilder, Lisa (Ron) Meers, and Gene Wilder. He leaves behind a long legacy of faith through his 3 children and grandchildren, Brittany (Chris) Veech, Chad (Kacie) Meers, and Emma (Philip) Carter, and countless brothers and sisters in Christ who will all miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Timothy Daniel Williard. He was fiercely proud of his family, often stating they were “the greatest children and grandchildren God ever gave a man”...

Daniel’s Christian legacy went far beyond his family, as he touched everyone he came in contact with, always sharing the love of Christ. He was quick with a warm hug and a firm handshake. He loved his Lord and always gave credit to his God for all the many blessings he had. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the Shelby Christian Church. He genuinely loved people and enjoyed spending time with his friends and fellow church members on the ‘senior saints’ trips. He could always be spotted wearing his fishing hat and a smile.

He had been a foreman for Shelbyville Municipal Water and Sewer Company for 21 years and retired as manager of West Shelby Water District. He was a member of the Solomon Lodge #5 F. & A.M. He loved farming. He raised many a crop of tobacco and countless head of cattle. One of his greatest accomplishments was his garden where he perfected fresh asparagus and enough green beans, tomatoes and blackberries to supply half of Shelby County.

Visitation will be 2-8 pm Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Shelby Christian Church. Celebration of Life will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 15, 2018, at Shelby Christian Church. Burial will be in the Simpsonville Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Sonrise Ministires, 2191 Harper's Ferry Road, Lockport, KY 40036 or WHAS Crusade for Children.

Masonic Service will be held 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 14th.
