Mildred Council Barnes, 96, of Albemarle passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 in Stanly Manor. Her funeral service with be 3 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brad Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service.

Born September 10, 1021 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late David James Council and Blanche Burdette Council and retired as a seamstress with Allison Manufacturing. She was a member of North Albemarle Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Howard Barnes in 2002. Survivors include daugther Trena Barnes Morris of Albemarle, sisters Toni Harrison of Badin and Ruth Brown of Hood River, Oregon, grandchildren Rodney Wayne Morris of Albemarle and Krystal Morris Christopher of Winter Spring, FL and great grandchildren Justin Morris and Matthew Christoper Morris.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001 or to North Albemarle Baptist Church, 401 Park Ridge Rd., Albemarle, NC 28001.
