MRS. MARY ELLEN (HAINES) GALE, 88, a resident of Menno Haven Retirement Community, Chambersburg, and formerly of Waynesboro, died Friday morning, January 12, 2018, in the nursing home.
Born June 23, 1929 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Percy S. and Lulu M. (Shoop) Haines. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.
Mrs. Gale graduated from Washington Township High School with the class of 1948.
She and her husband, the late Julien E. Gale, were married on June 11, 1983 in Waynesboro. They lived on Grandview Ave., Waynesboro, for all of their married life. Mr. Gale died on September 24, 2000.
Mrs. Gale worked in the personnel and insurance departments of Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing, Hagerstown, MD from 1952 until 1987. After the business was purchased by Rohr, she continued to work with the company until her retirement on November 12, 1993.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, and the National AARP. Mrs. Gale was a devoted and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, who will miss her greatly.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Velma Moats, Gladys Cramer, and Hazel Fitzgerald; and four brothers, Wilbur Haines, George Haines, Harry Haines, and Delbert Haines.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
