Ida was born in Oglesby, IL, on May 7, 1924 to Giovani and Maria (Porta) Caletti, both Italian immigrants. She married Eugene Beck in 1948; they were married for 19 years before Gene passed. In 1973, Ida married Paul White; he passed in 1992.
Ida is preceded in death by her loving daughter Cynthia Holmes. Ida leaves behind three other daughters; Madelyn Beck, Diane (Jim) Robinson, and Michelle Beck. She is also survived by Paul’s children; Thomas (Chris) White, Kristine (David) Carius, Paula (Darwin) Sloan, Patrick (Colleen) White, and John (Sue) White. She leaves behind a combined 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. In the last years of her life, Ida resided with her granddaughters, Hilary and Hailey Holmes, who brought much joy to her life.
She graduated from St. Francis College of Nursing in 1948 and worked as a nurse at St. Francis Medical Center for 25 years before retiring in 1988. She was a devout Catholic and attended St. Philomena Catholic Church. She was a member of the Italian American Society, Senior Saints, and St. Francis Ladies Auxiliary.
Ida enjoyed gardening, dancing, golfing, going to movies, and eating out; especially at Olive Garden. She loved laughing, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was loving, stubborn, fiercely independent, funny and kept a busy social calendar. Her mischievous smile and famous spaghetti will be missed by all.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 Tue., Jan. 16, at St Philomena Church with a Memorial Mass at 10:30. Fr Richardson will officiate and burial of ashes will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
